The Foundational Teachings

For sincere seekers ready to receive initiation into a spiritual lineage rooted in growth and self-healing

1 Day Intensive: Sunday, Nov 9 2025

+ 21 Days of Practice, Support and Community

Transform your life and leadership through grounded spiritual practice.

This isn’t just a one-off workshop. It’s the beginning of a new type of relationship with your own energy and intuition.

Reiki Level 1 offers you the structure, guidance, and support to establish a daily self-healing practice that can nourish and sustain you for life.

You’ll learn how to replenish your energy, calm your nervous system, avoid overwhelm and stay grounded no matter what life brings. Over 21 days, Reiki will become more than something you do—it will become something you are.

Through lineage-rooted teachings, 1:1 mentorship, and community practice, you’ll gain the foundational tools and wisdom to activate your innate healing gifts and serve the world.

Why study Reiki now?

Contrary to popular belief, Reiki is not just for massage therapists or professional healers. Anyone can benefit from the powerful system of Reiki and its practical tools for spiritual growth and self-healing, especially if:

  • You’re moving through a tough life transition and crave simple practices to help you stay grounded, clear, and connected

  • You’ve explored yoga, therapy, and/or meditation—but sense there’s a deeper energetic layer calling for your attention

  • You’re ready to release stress and old coping mechanisms and learn how to restore your own energy in a healthy way

  • You feel drawn to the unseen; you’re curious about how energy, emotion, and spirit intertwine and how to activate your innate healing gifts

  • You lead, teach, or support others in service as a therapist, teacher, social worker, coach, activist or caregiver and want tools to stay centered, energetically balanced and compassionate in your work

You don’t need prior experience in Reiki, meditation or the healing arts—only an open mind, a humble heart, and willingness to practice and learn.

ā€œMallory provides so much more than a class. She is so intentional about giving her students an in depth, intimate understanding of Reiki while fostering community. Her programs honor the time it takes for students to actually form a full understanding and build a relationship with the practice.

Since I began working with Mallory, I’m more embodied, confident, and most importantly, I now have a community of practitioners to learn and grow with.ā€

What You’ll Learn

During the In-Person Intensive you’ll receive initiation in the Usui Reiki Ryoho lineage of Reiki through a series of rejus.

The word reju translates as ā€œenergetic blessingā€. Each reju is a 5-10 minute individual ritual designed to cleanse your energy, calm your mind and expand your sensitivity to energy.

However, receiving rejus alone is not enough to become a confident Reiki practitioner. That’s why this program is a 21 day journey designed to help you build your own lifelong connection with Reiki.

During the In-Person Intensive and 21 Days of Practice, Integration & Support, you’ll learn:

  1. The history and spiritual philosophy of Usui Reiki and its Japanese cultural roots

  2. Mantra and meditation practices to clear and strengthen your energy field

  3. Energy work and self-healing techniques to activate your intuition and connection to Reiki energy

  4. How to work with the five Reiki Precepts as a living philosophy to cultivate compassion and balance

  5. A personal daily practice for grounding, energetic renewal and spiritual connection that can serve you for life

About Your Guide

A woman (Mallory Combemale of Breath Connection) with short dark hair smiling outdoors, wearing gold snake-shaped earrings, a thin gold necklace, and a rust-colored top against a background of blurred autumn leaves.

šŸ‘‹ Hi, I’m Mallory Combemale

If you’d told me years ago that I’d be teaching Reiki, I would have laughed out loud. As a practical, ambitious high achiever, I had no room for fluffly concepts like ā€œuniversal spiritual energyā€.

Then I fell in love… with a Reiki teacher (!) and everything changed.

When I experienced Reiki, I couldn’t deny it’s power. Since then, Reiki has become a core part of how I live and lead, helping me heal from disordered eating, chronic health issues, and extreme burnout.

I received my Reiki Level 3 (Master Level) in 2016 and have been teaching Usui Reiki Ryoho since 2020.

I’m passionate about teaching Reiki in a way that’s historically accurate, culturally respectful, and free from New Age distortions. I love exploring how Eastern spiritual traditions connect with modern neuroscience, trauma healing, and the human nervous system, and making that wisdom practical for real life.

In addition to Reiki, I’ve taught breathwork, meditation, and yoga for over a decade and received hundreds of hours of training in the healing arts.

I’m also a professional facilitator, conflict resolution mediator, and former Deloitte consultant — so I bring a grounded, no-BS lens to everything I do.

Oh, and I really love dancing. And trees ā˜ŗļø

FAQs

  • Reiki means ā€œuniversal source energyā€ in Japanese. There are many forms of energy work and energy healing, but here Reiki refers to a specific system of philosophy and set of techniques taught by Mikao Usui in late 1800s Japan.

Contrary to popular belief, Reiki is not an ā€œancientā€ system. It draws inspiration from the spiritual inheritance of Japan, which includes Buddhism, Shintoism (indigenous shamanic traditions) and more. Drawing on this rich cultural heritage, the system of Reiki was articulated by Mikao Usui within the specific context of secular, industrializing Japanese society.

Reiki is not just a practice for healing others, useful to those only interested in pursuing work in the healing arts. In fact, Reiki is a powerful package of practices for mastering your own energy. It is a secular, practical set of tools for self-development.

Whether you are a business leader, a teacher, a care-giver or facilitator of any kind, practicing Reiki will enhance your ability to lead groups with calm and clarity, make decisions under pressure and generate positive uplifting energy that will motivate those around you.

  • Reiki means ā€œuniversal source energyā€ in Japanese. There are many forms of energy work and energy healing with origins in cultures all around the world. Reiki is a system of philosophy and a set of techniques taught by Mikao Usui in late 1800s Japan.

  • Reiki is considered a spiritual lineage, because the knowledge and practices are transmitted from student to teacher in an unbroken chain. The Reiki Usui Ryoho lineage is closest to the original Japanese teachings, as taught by the Mikao Usui, the creator of the Reiki system. It focuses on Reiki as a personal path of spiritual and self-development.

Most Reiki teachers in the West teach Usui Shiki Ryoho, which is the name of the system of Reiki taught by Hawayo Takata in Hawaii and the US in the 1970s.

  • If you had mentioned the concept of ā€œuniversal spiritual energyā€ before life unexpectedly thrust Reiki into my path, my cynical self would have told you something like ā€œthere’s no such thingā€. As a practical, ambitious high achiever I didn’t have much capacity for things I found ā€œirrationalā€.

Then, I fell in love with an incredible Reiki teacher at the age of 21. Thank you, life. I learned about Reiki and energy work through my own experience and could not deny its power.

Since then, it’s been a core tool in my journey of self-empowerment, self-healing and leadership, and an incredible complement to other practices of meditation, energy and spirituality.

I received my Usui Reiki Ryoho Level 3 (Master Level) in the summer of 2017 and have now been teaching for about 3 years. It’s truly a gift to share this system, which has transformed me so deeply.

  • Reiki is taught by initiation, i.e., the knowledge and practices are passed on directly from teacher to student. Your Reiki initiation will involve a series of ā€œrejusā€ or ā€œenergetic blessingsā€ that activate or attune your awareness of subtle energy.

There are 3 primary stages in your Reiki journey:

Reiki Level 1 - work on self-awareness, self-healing and rebalancing your own energy

Reiki Level 2 - learn how to work with others and give energy healing sessions

Reiki Level 3 - learn how to give rejus and teach the system of Reiki

Each initiation is followed by a 21-Day Integration period where you commit to practice the techniques and meditations every day. It is also recommended that you refrain from drugs and alcohol, and eat a clean, vegetarian diet during this time.

Reiki Level 1 is not supposed to be a one-off workshop. The Foundational Teachings are the beginning of a lifelong path of devotion, attunement and growth.

If you are ready, your initiation awaits.
